David Atkins came to jewellery design in 1998 after a long and varied career in product design in Australia and America. His product work is highly visible – as a freelance designer he designed some of the most familiar products in Australia, including the standard Telecom/Telstra telephone (Touchfone 200) and household products for Dishlex, Vulcan, Crown Corning, Kambrook and Repco. He also contributed his design skills to many others in furniture and graphic design, vehicle body design for Mercedes Benz and International Trucks, as well as Hovercraft design for Neoteric USA Inc. |

Having made considerable achievements in the design of mass produced products, in recent years David turned to a completely different area of design, one which, according to him, “speaks to the soul”. These days he is more interested in designing and producing objects of lasting beauty in precious materials and unique Australian timbers. This more creative and expressive medium gives David the opportunity to create his own products and leave his mark using natural materials. The processes used in the production of these objects (like lost wax casting) are more like those used by renaissance masters than modern technology.
The Products available include a comprehensive range of cufflinks, desk items and corporate gifts, homeware products and women’s jewellery. They feature in a number of prestigious galleries and specialist stores throughout Australia.
